Other text on the map as follows: This Plan of the Townships of Moyamensing and Passyunk and the District of Southwark in the County of Philadelphia and in the State of Pennsylvania is most respectfully presented by the Commissioners appointed by the Act of Assembly of the 29th of September 1781 in compliance with which they have caused an accurate survey to be made of the whole District, and such parts of the Townships as were necessary in order to lay out the roads and streets required by the act. The lines herein coloured with light brown represent the old rods streets lands and alleys. Those coloured with green represent new roads and streets agreeably to a particular description accompanying this plan and bearing similar date herewith. Those which are coloured with yellow are only designed to point out the direction of the several streets which may hereafter be laid out and extended and may prove a convenience in the improvement and division of estates in those parts of the District and prevent future irregularities in building.
